BestStellies Student Accommodation @ Die Rand

This is Stellenbosch University Student Accommodation and offers 3 lovely sunny 2 bedroom apartments leased exclusively to students and allows dual leases.

About Die Rand Complex:

Die Rand is a fabulous complex offering a swimming pool, large grounds with trees and a braai area (communal), a coin-operated laundry facility, 24 hour security and 1km walk from the bottom gate to the BA building at Stellenbosch University Campus.
The top entrance is situated in Dan Pienaar Street, La Colline, Stellenbosch and is the entrance used for viewing the apartments.

SU Accredited (NSFAS will provide rental allowance for SU private accommodation but we are not NSFAS accredited)

 We offer Stellenbosch University single accredited accommodation. NSFAS will require a copy of your signed lease agreement before they approve the rental portion of the bursary so it is a good idea to get your rental property in place early on. Although NSFAS only pays from March – December at Stellenbosch University at BestStellies will be required to sign a 12 month lease contract:

 

Other Costs:

Electricity is via a prepaid meter and students are advised to share the cost and work out a living arrangement for finances. An upfront booking fee is payable along with your application form to secure your place. The estimated cost per student based on historical averages is around R350 per person per month.

 

 

Rental Costs:

Rental is per room from December to November,  12 months. Please see pricing on the right.
NSFAS/Bursary students rental is structured differently due to NSFAS. Students with funding will need to be able to cover the rental shortfall each month should they wish to stay at BestStestellies as well as any months not covered by their bursary.

Included in the rental is water and security. Beststellies offers a complimentary fiber internet.
Electricity is via a prepaid meter for the tenant’s account.

Deposit:

All Students pay R11500 deposit as deposit which is refunded at the end of the lease term, less any costs, and an obligatory cleaning fee which is R1500 in 2027.
Note that our accommodation is SU accredited, not NSFAS accredited. This means NSFAS will still cover up to their rental cap which is R45000.00 per anum, but they do not cover any rental shortfall or deposits or booking fees. Students will need to be able to cover the rental shortfall and the deposit and booking fee and any months not covered by the bursary.

Viewings:

If you are a serious prospective student/tenant we can arrange a viewing. We charge a small viewing fee that will then be credited to your booking fee if you take the accommodation.

The reason for the viewing fee is that many students have no intention of staying and are just looking around. This means if we have 100 shoppers, our tenants will be constantly disturbed. Flat Mates:

Whatever gender you are we place flatmates with the same gender. We recommend sharing with a friend and someone you know if you are able to arrange that.

1 parking bay allocated per flat. To reserve there is a R850 annual fee. Additional cars will be able to find parking in the complex, max 1 cars per flat.

Each room comes with a single bed base and mattress, a desk and office chair, curtains, bedside lamp, bedside table
Bicycle Racks
There are outdoor bicycle racks near the Laundry Facilites to lock up your bicycles. These are not covered.
Communal Braai Facilities
Die Rand has lovely shaded grounds with a large communal BBQ Braai area
Pool
Students will have an access key to use the large swimming pool in the complex.
Kitchen Amenities
Each flat comes with a fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge/freezer, a toaster and kettle, microwave, oven and stove.

The living rooms all have a table and chairs, a 3 seater couch, a TV table, curtains, bookshelf

Security
There is 24 hour security at the complex and it is fully fenced in.
House Rules

No smoking of any kind, vapes or tobaco or other, allowed inside the flats or on the balcony. Only if all bedroom windows are closed is smoking permitted on the balcony. Please be considerate to other students and residents. No noise and unruly behaviour. Please follow all the rules of the complex. No sleep overs. Only residents are allowed at the swimming pool.

Proximity to Campus

BestStellies Student Accommodation is situated in La Colline, Stellenbosch. The complex is situated on a hill with lovely trees , swimming pool and sweeping views of the Stellenbosch mountains. The bottom gate of the complex is exactly 900meter to the BA building on campus. It is an easy 10 minute walk and safe during the day time.
