Stellenbosch University Student Accommodation Close to Campus

BestStellies offers SU-accredited student accommodation for Stellenbosch University students.

NSFAS students who have been approved will also be able to apply for rental funding from NSFAS for any SU-accredited accommodation.

There is limited availability for 2026.

Viewing Dates

There will not be viewings for 2026 due to the disruption to our current students and the volume of inquiries. All accommodation can be viewed on our Facebook Page under the photo galleries.

About BestStellies @ Die Rand

BestStellies @ Die Rand offers 3 lovely sunny 2-bedroom apartments leased exclusively to students. Dual leases are allowed. Unit 1 and 2 are on the second story and Unit 3 is on the ground floor.

Application Procedure

We usually fill up before needing to post our availability. If you are interested, please email us after reading this post and ensuring that you are able to cover any rental shortfall not covered by a bursary or NSFAS funding. NSFAS will not cover the full rental amount as our rental is above the NSFAS cap. Should the flats remain occupied by current students, applications will not be available.

About Die Rand Complex

Die Rand is a vibrant complex offering a swimming pool, large grounds with trees and a communal braai area, coin-operated laundry facility, 24-hour security, and is just a 1km walk from the BA building at Stellenbosch University. While the complex includes some family units, the student community is growing rapidly, creating great opportunities to meet fellow students.

The top entrance is located in Dan Pienaar Street, La Colline, Stellenbosch.

Wifi

Each flat includes complimentary uncapped high-speed fiber internet.

NSFAS Accreditation

All apartments are SU Accredited. NSFAS students can apply to SU accommodation and receive rental funding up to the NSFAS cap. NSFAS will require a signed lease agreement before approving the rental portion of the bursary, so it is recommended to secure accommodation early.

NSFAS pays a maximum of R55,000 per annum for 2025. We are awaiting updates for 2026.

Rental Fees for 2026

• Small Room 1: R9,200 (14m² + 2m² balcony)
• Room 2: R8,796 (7m²)
• 11-month contracts (January to November)

Rental may increase from time to time. Water and security are included. Courtesy fiber internet is also provided.

Additional Costs

• Deposit: R9,500
• Booking Fee: R3,500 (non-refundable for private students)
• Parking Fee: R1,500
• Electricity: Prepaid (students should arrange cost-sharing)

Furnishings

Each flat is approximately 50m² with two bedrooms separated by a shared bathroom (shower, basin, toilet). The larger room includes a small balcony.

We welcome all genders and will do our best to place students with flatmates of the same gender if requested. If possible, we recommend arranging to share with a friend.

This accommodation is for Stellenbosch University students only. Proof of registration or provisional acceptance is required.

Pets and Smoking

No pets are allowed. Smoking is not permitted inside the apartments.
